Woman Power To Lead The Way On India's 70th Republic Day
On India’s 70th Republic Day today, with full zeal. It will be the last big public event before the national election due in four months. The parade will begin with the laying of a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chief guest of this year is South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. PM Modi had invited the South African President after the two leaders met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Argentina last year.
The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary will also be celebrated this year. Mahatma Gandhi had a special connection with South Africa. The Railways, after a gap of three years, will be showcasing its tableau that will describe the "transformation of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to Mahatma Gandhi".
Narendra Modi tweeted: At Amar Jawan Jyoti, a grateful nation pays homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their own lives for the nation.

Twenty-two tableaux of states and central government departments, and performances by school children will be part of the 90-minute parade. From modern to traditional, the themes will be an eclectic mix of folk dances, music and drama.
