Tollywood Misses Independence Day Opportunity
Tollywood’s Independence Day weekend, once reserved for Pushpa 2, saw the release of Mr. Bachchan and Double Ismart instead.
Unfortunately, neither film performed well at the box office. Double Ismart resulted in substantial losses for its buyers, with a reported 75% deficit due to its high cost.
Similarly, Mr. Bachchan has also underwhelmed, leading to significant financial setbacks for People Media Factory. This missed opportunity reflects a wasted potential during a typically lucrative period.
The absence of Pushpa 2 on its scheduled release date could have meant significant box office gains. This situation echoes previous missed opportunities in Indian cinema, such as the revenue loss experienced by RRR after its postponement from January 2022.
