BRS Considers Return to TRS Name; KTR Plans 2027 Padayatra
K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has revealed that the party is considering reverting to its original name, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), in an effort to revive regional sentiment and reconnect with its grassroots base. The move is part of a broader strategy to regain political momentum following recent electoral setbacks.
Speaking during an informal media interaction, Rama Rao acknowledged that the shift from TRS to BRS diluted the emotional connection the party once had with the people of Telangana. He emphasized that the identity associated with the pink flag and the Telangana movement remains deeply rooted in public sentiment. However, he clarified that a final decision on the name change would be taken by party chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao.
As part of future plans, Rama Rao announced a statewide padayatra in 2027 aimed at addressing public grievances and strengthening direct engagement with citizens. He also outlined a membership drive scheduled for May and June, along with structured training programs to rebuild organizational strength.
Ruling out alliances, he asserted that the party would contest elections independently and focus on fielding strong candidates. He also hinted at possible changes in leadership in certain constituencies to improve performance.
Criticizing the Congress government led by A. Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao accused it of failing key sections like farmers and students. He expressed confidence that BRS would stage a strong comeback by reconnecting with the people and addressing past shortcomings.
