BRS vows complete war on Revanth's demolition drive of the Musi front.
BRS leader and former Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday declared an all-out war against the Congress government's demolition drive, which was initiated in Hyderabad as part of the Musi riverfront beautification project. He warned that the "bulldozer justice" would only serve to tarnish the city's reputation as an emerging global hub that is known for its opportunities and hospitable nature to people from all over India.
Rao met with families who were en masse at Telangana Bhavan and expressed their fear of being uprooted. He also promised his party's complete support to anyone impacted by the demolitions.
He guaranteed that all of these families will receive free legal representation from the BRS to contest their relocation in a court of law. They would have access to the party legal cell's services around-the-clock.
Rao conveyed his profound worry for families whose homes—which stand in for their lifelong earnings and fortunes—are in imminent danger of being lost. The government's foolish actions, which had put thousands of families in danger, would not be good for the State. He implored the government to reevaluate its strategy and give the wellbeing of its people top priority.
Make a request to Rahul Gandhi
He advocated for a more inclusive and humane approach that strikes a balance between urban development and the rights and means of subsistence of the impacted families.
Rao emphasized that residents should not be forced to relocate or have their lives disturbed in order to complete the beautification project. Drawing the attention of Rahul Gandhi, who has previously spoken out against similar "bulldozer justice" in northern states, the BRS leader made a passionate plea to the Congress party's central leadership, demanding that they take serious note of the situation in Telangana under his party's reign.
Rao insisted that Rahul Gandhi step in to stop Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's state government from demolishing buildings. Before moving further with the Musi project and the fate of over 25,000 families impacted by it, he urged the Congress government to call an all-party meeting.
A delegation from BRS will tour areas in Musi
Rao gave the families, who are terrified of their homes being demolished, the assurance that a group of BRS MLAs would visit the homes, colonies, and neighborhoods that have been designated for demolition on Sunday. He underlined that these Telangana Bhavan families would receive round-the-clock assistance from the BRS legal team.
Rao attacked the administration for tearing down houses without giving notice and compared this to the 45-day extension granted to the brother of the Chief Minister for the demolition of his house, which was located in the city's tank's buffer zone.
He brought up the sad stories of Buchavva, a woman who killed herself after her home was demolished, and another woman who suffered a heart attack as a result of the stress of the demolition effort. Rao called these fatalities "murders" carried out by the government of Revanth Reddy.
