Hydraa Cracks Down on Illegal Stone Crushing, RMC Units in Ranga Reddy
In a major enforcement drive, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) carried out large-scale demolitions of illegal stone crushing and Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) units across Ranga Reddy district. The action came amid rising political pressure and serious environmental concerns over unregulated mining activities on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
On Tuesday, Hydraa teams, supported by heavy police deployment, raided six locations including Kothwalguda, Vattinagulapally, and Gowlidoddi. Using earthmovers, officials dismantled unlicensed stone crushers and removed machinery to prevent further operations. A total of 12 RMC plants were also cleared during the crackdown.
Authorities revealed that these units were operating without valid permits and had been flagged by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board, mining authorities, and revenue departments. The action was taken following directives from the Ranga Reddy district collector.
Among those targeted were units operated by Great India Mining, Parmesh Singh Stone Crusher, Sri Lakshmi Constructions, Prithvi Stone Crusher, and Raghava Stone Crusher. Reports suggest that one of the units had links to a politically influential individual, adding to the controversy.
Officials stated that these illegal operations caused massive losses to the government, running into hundreds of crores due to unpaid dues and electricity bills. Many units allegedly continued operations using diesel generators even after power disconnections, worsening air pollution in surrounding areas.
Hydraa emphasized that the operation was aimed at safeguarding public health, protecting the environment, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Authorities warned that strict action will continue against illegal mining and industrial activities across the region.
