Indore Honeymoon Murder: Property Dealer Arrested, Guard Detained

A new twist has emerged in the investigation of Raja Raghuvanshi's murder, a man from Indore who was killed while on his honeymoon in Meghalaya. Police have arrested Silome James, a local property dealer, for allegedly helping conceal evidence after the crime. In addition, a security guard posted at the same Indore building where Raja’s wife Sonam reportedly stayed after the incident has been detained for questioning.
Raja was found dead on June 2 in a gorge near the Wei Sawdong falls in Sohra. He and his wife Sonam were initially reported missing on May 23, turning the case into a homicide investigation when his body was discovered. Sonam reappeared on June 7 in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. Investigators soon uncovered that she was allegedly involved in plotting the murder alongside Raj Kushwaha, with whom she was reportedly in a relationship.
Meghalaya Police, working closely with Indore’s Crime Branch, identified Silome James as a key figure who allegedly allowed Sonam to hide valuables like jewelry in his leased property after the murder. According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, James may have played a role in trying to conceal evidence.
So far, six individuals have been arrested, including Sonam, Raj Kushwaha, and three hired assailants. All five are in judicial custody in Meghalaya. The security guard’s involvement is still under investigation.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently handling the high-profile case, which has captured national attention due to its shocking circumstances—a honeymoon turning into a premeditated murder. Authorities are continuing to track all those who may have helped Sonam evade arrest and hide evidence in the days following her husband's death.
