KTR Urges Farmers to Question Government
K. T. Rama Rao intensified his criticism of the Congress government during a major farmers’ gathering in Warangal, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises outlined in the Farmers’ Declaration. Addressing the Rythu Sangrama Sadassu organized by the BRS, he called on farmers to shift their approach from requesting help to demanding accountability.
Speaking to a large and energetic crowd, Rama Rao questioned the implementation of the 34 assurances reportedly made under the declaration announced by Rahul Gandhi. He alleged that after gaining power, the Congress leadership abandoned Telangana’s farmers, leaving them struggling with procurement issues and delayed payments. He also criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, asking why the government had not acted while farmers continued to suffer.
Rama Rao contrasted the current situation with the previous administration led by K. Chandrashekhar Rao, stating that crops were procured even during the COVID-19 crisis. He argued that the present government’s inaction was pushing farmers into deeper distress.
The meeting concluded with several resolutions demanding immediate action. These included ₹10 lakh compensation for families of farmers who died since the new government took charge, full implementation of the Farmers’ Declaration, unconditional procurement at Minimum Support Price, and a ₹500 bonus per quintal for paddy.
Additional demands included clearing pending Rythu Bharosa funds, implementing a ₹2 lakh loan waiver, and reviving the Rythu Bima insurance scheme. Rama Rao warned that if these demands were ignored, the BRS would launch statewide protests and prevent ministers from facing the public. He urged farmers to hold leaders accountable until all promises were fulfilled.
