Muzaffarpur shelter home case - CBI to probe against CM Nitish Kumar
In a major blow to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the bihar court has ordered Central Bureau Of Investigation to initiate probe against Nitish Kumar in the Muzaffarpur shelter home sex scandal.
Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Rape case refers to a shelter home that ran under a non-governmental organization called "Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti" at Muzaffarpur, Bihar, where cases of sexual abuse, rape and torture were reported. In a medical examination, sexual abuse of 34 out of 42 inmates living at the shelter was confirmed.
This order was given after one the accused Dr Ashwani Kumar who was accused of administering sedatives to the victims, alleged the CBI for suppressing the facts and said that the CBI has recorded his statement but did not include it in the charge sheet.
The doctor had told the CBI that there were periodic reports being submitted by the senior government officials from Muzaffarpur district administration and social welfare department, despite which they did not report any discrepancy and sexual abuse or harassment which meant they had not been doing their job properly.
