PM Modi Welcomes Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan, Calls It Path to Long-Term Stability

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace initiative, describing it as a significant pathway toward long-term stability, peace, and development for Palestinians, Israelis, and the larger West Asian region. In a post on X, Modi expressed optimism that all stakeholders would unite behind Trump’s proposal to end decades of conflict.
Trump, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, unveiled a 20-point plan aimed at ceasing hostilities in Gaza. Central to the proposal is the formation of a temporary governing board in the war-torn territory, led by Trump himself and including international leaders such as former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. The plan also lays out measures for humanitarian relief, reconstruction, and security guarantees for both Palestinians and Israelis.
While Israel has welcomed the proposal, uncertainty remains over Hamas’s response, with doubts on whether they would accept such terms. The global community is watching closely, given the scale of destruction and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Modi, reaffirming India’s commitment to peace in West Asia, wrote: “We welcome President Donald J Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. It provides a viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region.”
India, which has maintained close ties with both Israel and Palestine, has consistently advocated dialogue over violence. Modi’s endorsement signals New Delhi’s support for multilateral efforts to restore stability in the Middle East while balancing its strategic partnerships.
The initiative, though ambitious, faces hurdles in implementation. Yet, Modi’s support adds diplomatic weight, positioning India as a key global voice in favor of peace and cooperation in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
