Pawan Kalyan Announces Jana Sena’s Entry into Telangana Politics
Jana Sena Party founder and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has announced that his party will contest the 2029 general elections in Telangana, sparking political debate across the state. He emphasized that Telangana is not anyone’s “fiefdom” and asserted his party’s right to operate and expand in the region.
The announcement comes amid controversy surrounding Kalyan’s previous remarks about Telangana’s formation and certain regional issues. Responding to criticism, he clarified that his earlier 11-day fast was not against Telangana but against the manner in which Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated. He also stated that some of his comments had been misunderstood.
Political tensions increased after Hyderabad police denied permission for Jana Sena’s proposed “Telangana Nava Nirmana Sankalpa Sabha.” Meanwhile, allegations surfaced regarding a land parcel linked to Kalyan, with critics claiming it was an encroached water body. He denied the accusations and challenged authorities to prove any wrongdoing.
Kalyan also highlighted Jana Sena’s roots in Hyderabad and claimed the party has around one lakh workers in Telangana. Criticizing Congress leaders for opposing his political activities in the state, he questioned why leaders from other states could contest elections across India while his entry into Telangana was being challenged. His declaration is being viewed as a significant move in Telangana’s evolving political landscape.
