Strategy to Show of strength fails - 4 Congress MLA's skipped a crucial meeting
After a lot of drama going on in Karnataka politics with Congress, BJP blaming each other and withdrawal of support of 2 independent MLA's, Congress on Friday has called a meeting of all its MLA's. This meeting was arranged to show off its strength and to claim that all its members are with them.
However, four Congress MLAs - Umesh Jadhav, Ramesh Jarkiholi and Mahesh Kumathalli and B Nagendra did not attend the meeting. The ruling coalition considered it to be a flop. Former chief minister Siddaramaiah had warned the MLA saying that the absence will be viewed seriously action would be initiated under the Anti-Defection Law.
Post the meeting Congress moved all of its MLAs in Karnataka to the Eagleton resort in the outskirts of Bengaluru to avoid any risks and to keep all its MLA's together. However, the presence of the remaining MLA's suggested that at least for time being the coalition government is safe.
