Telangana High Court Rejects Jana Sena Plea for Hyderabad Meeting
The Telangana High Court on Tuesday dismissed a House Motion petition filed by the Jana Sena Party seeking urgent permission to hold a public meeting in Hyderabad. The party had challenged Cyberabad Police’s decision to deny approval for its proposed “Telangana Nava Nirmana Sankalpa Sabha” on Telangana Formation Day.
The court ruled that the matter did not warrant urgent consideration under House Motion procedures. The meeting, planned at Sandhya Convention in Gachibowli, was expected to attract around 2,000 participants and was scheduled to run from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Cyberabad Police rejected the request citing concerns related to law and order, public peace, and security. Jana Sena criticized the decision, arguing that the reasons provided were vague and appeared to be excuses rather than genuine concerns.
Following the court’s decision, party chief Pawan Kalyan announced he would instead address the media from his residence in Jubilee Hills. In a post on social media, he expressed hope that authorities would at least permit a press conference.
Marking Telangana Formation Day, Kalyan also reiterated that Jana Sena was founded in Telangana and remains committed to the aspirations and development of the state’s people. Meanwhile, party leaders celebrated the occasion at the Jana Sena state office in Kukatpally and paid tribute to Telangana movement martyrs.
