Complaint Filed Against Palaash Muchhal in Sangli Over Alleged ₹40 Lakh Cheating Case

A 34-year-old actor-producer from Maharashtra has filed a complaint against composer and filmmaker Palaash Muchhal, accusing him of cheating to the tune of ₹40 lakh. The complaint was submitted to the Sangli Superintendent of Police, prompting authorities to initiate a preliminary inquiry. Police officials confirmed that no FIR has been registered so far, and the matter is currently under verification.
The complainant, identified as Vidnyan Mane, a resident of Sangli, stated that he met Palaash Muchhal on December 5, 2023, during the latter’s visit to the district. During their interaction, Mane expressed interest in investing in film production. According to the complaint, Muchhal offered Mane an opportunity to come on board as a producer for his upcoming project titled Nazaria.
Mane alleged that Muchhal assured him a profit of ₹12 lakh on an investment of ₹25 lakh after the film’s release on OTT platforms. Additionally, Muchhal is said to have promised Mane an acting role in the film. Trusting these assurances, Mane reportedly transferred a total of ₹40 lakh to Muchhal in multiple installments by March 2025.
However, the complainant claims that the film project never materialised and remained incomplete. When he demanded a refund of his investment, Mane alleged that Muchhal failed to respond, leaving him with no option but to approach the police.
The complaint comes amid heightened public attention on Palaash Muchhal following recent personal developments. Last month, his wedding to Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana was called off after being postponed due to her father’s health issues. Following the cancellation, Muchhal had issued a statement urging restraint against unverified online speculation.
Meanwhile, Muchhal has shifted focus back to his professional commitments and is preparing to direct a new film starring Shreyas Talpade. Police have stated that appropriate action will be taken after a thorough preliminary assessment of the complaint.
