Manu Bhaker Targets Historic Third Medal at Paris Olympics
Paris: Indian shooting sensation Manu Bhaker is poised to create history as she aims for a third individual medal at the Paris Olympics in the Women's 25m Pistol Final. Already a double bronze medalist in the 2024 Games, Bhaker has set her sights on adding another medal to her collection.
Bhaker, who previously secured bronze in both the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event and the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, now competes in the 25m Pistol Final at Chateauroux. The young shooter finished second in the qualifying round, demonstrating her skill and determination to make history as the first Indian to win three medals in a single Olympic edition.
Alongside Bhaker's quest, Indian archers Bhajan Kaur and Deepika Kumari are also in action, aiming for a spot in the semifinals of the Women’s Individual rounds. Bhajan will face Indonesia’s Diananda Choirunisa, while Deepika takes on Germany’s Michelle Kroppen. Their success in these matches could advance them to the next stage later in the day.
Additionally, Indian athletes Nethra Kumanan and Vishnu Saravanan continue their campaign in sailing, while Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan start their qualification rounds in Women’s Skeet. The day concludes with boxer Nishant Dev's quarterfinal bout in the Men’s 71kg category, keeping India’s hopes alive across multiple events.
