New Zealand Put An End To India’s 7-Match Winning Streak
New Zealand, on Monday, defeated India in the first Test of the two-match series. This is the end of the 7 matches winning streak for India, who had won all their 7 previous matches in the WTC.
New Zealand bowlers Trent Boult and Tim Southee tormented the Indian batsmen again. India was already trailing by 39 runs and lost the last six wickets for mere 47 runs in 17 overs that they batted on the fourth-day morning.
Mayank Agrawal and Rahane seemed to provide some momentum to the team but lost their wickets in the morning. Boult and Southee shared nine wickets among them for the second innings.
For New Zealand, skipper Kane Williamson scored 89 runs but it was the last three wickets that created the major difference between the two sides. New Zealand was 225 for seven at one stage, but the last three wickets managed to add 123 runs.
Both the teams will face each other in Christchurch for the second Test, starting on Saturday.
