Paris Olympics: Aman Sehrawat Wins Bronze in Wrestling for India
Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat secured a bronze medal in the 57kg freestyle category at the Paris Olympics by defeating Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz 13-5.
This victory continues India's wrestling tradition of bringing home medals since the 2008 Beijing Games, where Sushil Kumar first earned a bronze. Sehrawat’s win adds to India’s tally, bringing it to five bronze medals and one silver, the latter won by javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra.
Earlier in the competition, Sehrawat had lost to Japan's top-seeded wrestler Rei Higuchi in the semifinals, which set him up for the bronze medal match. Despite the setback, his victory over Cruz ensures India's wrestling legacy remains strong in the global arena.
