Rohit Sharma may be rested for T20's - squad to be selected on February 15
India after its recent tour to New Zealand is all set for its next upcoming ODI series at home with Australia. This series will be last India will be playing before the mega event of World Cup 2019 that starts on May 30, in England.
In fact, the India team management and the national selectors are understood to be mulling over how to rest or rotate some of the key members of the squad during the five ODIs to be played from March 2 to 13, and the preceding two T20Is. They would be meeting on February 15, in Mumbai to select the squad for the ODI series against Australia.
Sources say that key players will be given rest and others would be evaluated to see the backup plans for the upcoming World Cup. Rohit Sharma who led the India team in absence of Virat Kohli will be given partial rest before the Australian series to spend some time with his newborn daughter.
The selection panel headed by M.S.K. Prasad, in consultation with Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri, is likely to test fringe batsmen like opener K.L. Rahul and Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane.
