Virat Kohli Named Skipper of Cricket Australia’s ODI Team of The Year
Virat Kohli has been exceptional with his performance in 2018 and it is no surprise that he was chosen as the Skipper of Cricket Australia’s ODI team of the year. The 30-year-old cricketer played 14 ODIs this year, scoring over 1200 runs at an outstanding average of 133.55. He has also notched up six tons and three half-centuries in 2018, with the highest score of 160.
Virat Kohli also ended 2018 as the top-ranked player in ICC test rankings. He attained a career-high 937 points during the year, which is the highest ever by an Indian batsman, scored 1322 runs in all. Kohli is now holding the top position for 135 days.
Apart from Kohli, Rohit Sharma was named as the opener along with Jonny Bairstow of England. Rohit has notched up 1030 runs from 19 matches in 2018 with a remarkable average of 73.57, with the highest score of 162.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav and pacer Jasprit Bumrah also found a place in the squad. Kuldeep has scalped 45 wickets this year at an economy rate of 4.64 while Bumrah had picked 22 wickets from 13 matches at an economy of 3.62.
