Google Maps for Android Gets Departure, Arrival Time Feature for Car Navigation
Google maps are a saviour for many especially in situations when you are unaware of the route and it is this app that comes to our rescue. Nevertheless, Google Maps has seen a lot of UI changes recently that some of us may consider superfluous, or at least not a high priority. But over the past few days, two really important features popped up in the app — speed trap cameras and speed limits while driving — and now there's the third addition. When you're retrieving driving directions, you can - finally - set your departure or arrival time and get an estimation of how long your route will take, via the route options menu.
Version 10.8.0 of Google maps will add this feature to your android mobile. You can find it under the overflow menu on the top right when you check any step-by-step directions. It's long overdue and been high on the request list of features for the Maps app for years now.
With this new feature, you can get an estimate of how much time you will take and what time you would reach the destination if you have set the departure time or at what time you must leave for the destination if you have set the arrival time.
However few setbacks to this feature is that it does not provide notifications yet and also it does not consider the current traffic conditions. With these additions done in future, this feature would serve as the best one can get and rely on.
