2nd T20: India Defeated SA by 7 Wickets
The second T20 match between India and South Africa was played in Mohali yesterday. With Virat Kohli leading from the front and scoring a brilliant half-century, India won the match by seven wickets. In this day and night match, India won the toss and decided to field against SA.
Unlike the first T20 in Dharamshala, the rain had no role in yesterday’s match and the weather was clean. The Indian playing squad included Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w), Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar and Navdeep Saini.
Virat Kohli has earlier made clear younger players who are getting a chance to show their skills will get limited opportunities, as the mission is to build a team for next T20 World Cup.
South Africa has put a target of 150 runs, which India achieved in 19 overs and seven wickets remaining. Quinton de Kock scored highest runs (52) in SA squad. Deepak Chahar took two wickets with the best economy rate of 5.50.
When India started batting, Rohit Sharma was on fire and gave back to back two sixes. Shikhar joined him at the party with two fours. When Kohli came to bat, he played in style and scored 72 runs in just 52 balls. He remained not out and was declared man of the match. The match also saw some interesting catches by David Miller, Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli.
This is the first time that India has defeated South Africa on Indian soil in T20s.
