The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has classified eight districts of Telangana including Hyderabad in the list of active Hotspots across the country.
These include Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Warangal Urban, Ranga Reddy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Medchal Malkajgiri, Karimnagar and Nirmal.
The list also classified as many as 19 districts as Non-hotspots which includes Suryapet, Adilabad, Mahabubnagar, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jagtial, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mulugu, Peddapalli, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubabad, Rajanna Sircilla and Siddipet.
While Vikarabad reported 32 cases and Suryapet 23, they were not in the red zone whereas Karimnagar district which has 19 cases has been named in the list of hotspots.
MoHFW Secretary Preeti Sudan said that the exercise of identification of hotspots has to be done on a weekly-basis or earlier. Strict containment measures need to be implemented in these hotspots.
State authorities are not content with the Centre’s decision and seemingly disagree with it but since they have no other option but to go with Centre’s released guideline and the list of hotspots and Non-hotspots.
