A Person Had The "The Most Expensive Beer In History", Worth $99,983.64
Peter Lalor is The Australian’s chief cricket writer and has been a reporter for over 30 years. An award-winning journalist and author he has covered Test cricket in all parts of the world for the newspaper.
Recently, he drank “The most expensive beer in history” after being incorrectly charged a whopping $99,983.64 at a Manchester pub. He was staying in a branch of the Malmaison Hotel for the fourth Ashes Test match when he bought a bottle of Deuchars IPA at the hotel bar.
He told that he wasn't wearing his glasses when the bill was brought over to him, he paid for the beer and he signed the bill and said he didn't need the receipt. After bringing the issue up with the hotel, it was explained that had been accidentally entered on the card-machine given to Lalor by the member of staff, instead of $6.75 the actual price of the drink. Management at the Malmaison Hotel took the issue seriously he said. They have been apologetic and have gone out of their way to help him, offering to compensate Lalor for any additional losses.
Lalor took to Twitter and shared a picture of the drink and wrote, “See this beer? That is the most expensive beer in history. I paid $99,983.64 for it in the Malmaison Hotel, Manchester the other night. Seriously.” Later he requested the bar attendant to read out his bill. “Something, however, made me ask ‘How much did I just pay for that beer?’ She checked, covered her mouth, started to giggle and refused to tell me, saying only there had been a mistake and she would fix it.”

She checked, covered her mouth, started to giggle and refused to tell me, saying only there had been a mistake and she would fix it.
I insisted.
The funds are reportedly in the process of being refunded, and while the transaction fee has been returned to Lalor's account, the extra amount will likely take a few days to be refunded.
Then came the call from home. The sum of $99,983.64 had been removed from our account.

And, there’d been a transaction fee of $2,499.59 to add to the pain.
The fee has been refunded but not the larger amount.
It really is baffling that both Visa and our bank would allow such an amount to go through unquestioned.

And, guess what? They agree that there is a refund in the system but it will take 9 working days for it to go through.
In the mean time there’s a massive hole in my finances
