A Sudden Comeback Of Swine Flu In The State

At a time when a large part of the state’s healthcare machinery is being in the action to monitor and quarantine suspected cases of coronavirus, Swine flu virus activity has seen a rise in the city.

In the last couple of days, 12 cases have been reported at the Gandhi Hospital. Out of 12, five are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. One patient was admitted on Saturday to the hospital with symptoms of severe respiratory distress.

As per the latest records available, 30 cases of swine flu were reported in the Telangana. Only 1 death was reported during the period. The isolation facility at Fever Hospital has been earmarked for suspected novel coronavirus cases and swine flu cases are being redirected to the Gandhi Hospital.

“There is a lot of pressure on the staff. In addition to testing for coronavirus, tests for swine flu are also pouring in,” said an insider.

Health officials are taking measures to control the spread of the disease with doctors advising children, pregnant women and older people to stay away from social gatherings to prevent the spread.
