APCC President Sharmila Decries BJP Dominance in Andhra Politics
APCC President Y.S. Sharmila vehemently criticized the BJP-led central government for failing to fulfill promises outlined in the A.P. Reorganisation Act, accusing both the ruling YSRCP and the Opposition TDP of capitulating to the saffron party's influence.
Addressing the 'Nyaya Sadhana Sabha' on March 7, Sharmila emphasized her entry into Andhra politics was driven solely by the state's need for leadership advocating for Special Category Status (SCS), refuting any notion of personal political gain.
Highlighting the lack of effective leadership championing the cause of SCS, Sharmila pointedly condemned the silence of both the TDP and YSRCP on unmet promises, including crucial projects worth ₹15 lakh crore.
Sharmila underscored the criticality of SCS for driving development and employment in the state, lambasting Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for his failure to confront the Centre over atrocities against his religious community in Manipur.
She further criticized the BJP's stronghold in Andhra Pradesh despite lacking electoral representation, coining the acronym "BJP" to represent the dominance of leaders like Babu, Jagan, and Pawan.
Sharmila's outspoken critique emphasized the urgent need for Andhra's political leaders to prioritize the state's interests over party allegiances, urging concerted efforts to hold the Centre accountable for its unfulfilled promises.
