Amartya Sen Asks BJP to Rename ‘Science’ and ‘Nalanda’
Nobel Memorial Prize winner, Amartya Sen slammed intolerance and asked BJP to rename ‘Science’ and ‘Nalanda’.
The "science" that claims Kauravas were test-tube babies, and “Nalanda”, the university which is no longer following Buddhist principles should be renamed, Dr. Sen said.
"Every human being has the right to an opinion, a right to express and resist what he thinks is wrong," he said while asking BJP to stop the attack on Naseeruddin Shah.
They should use a word on their own rather ‘Science’ regarding “Kauravas” issue. Nalanda University has no longer Nalanda tradition, so its name should be changed, said Dr. Sen.
He also said that India has suffered a lot with patience, tolerating inequality and injustice on one side and absurdity on the other.
Test tube babies are not about injustice. It is an absurdity that people should be impatient with, he added.
Dr. Sen resigned as Nalanda’s chancellor in February 2015 after differences with the BJP-led government at the centre.
