Andhra Pradesh Ranks Worst Among States On The Literacy Scale
National Statistical Office(NSO) conducted a survey to analysis and rank Indian states of the basis of their literary rate.
With 96.2 percent literacy, Kerala has once again emerged as the most literate state in the country, while Andhra Pradesh featured at the bottom with a rate of 66.4 percent.
Kerala is followed by Delhi with a literacy rate of 88.7 percent, followed by Uttarkhand’s 87.6 percent, Himachal Pradesh’s 86.6 percent and Assam’s at 85.9 percent.
Earlier there has been a perception that South States have always been ahead in terms of literacy than the North ones. However, the latest data debunked that.
Andhra’s literacy rate is at 66.4% while Telangana’s is 72.8%, which is worse than the national average of 77.7%.
The worst in this regard are the states of Telangana, where urban literacy is 23.4 percentage points higher than rural literacy, and Andhra Pradesh, where the difference is 19.2 percentage points.
