Boundaries deciding World Cup Winner!! – Ridiculous
On Sunday, the entire world witnessed a thriller ICC Cricket World Cup Final. England took New Zealand in the final at Lords. After winning the toss, New Zealand put a target of 242 runs for England. England chasing this target were able to make 241runs in 50 overs.
This called for a Super Over. But, after the super over also ended in a tie with both teams scoring 15 runs each, the eye moved to World Cup Rule Book. The rule said, if a Super over cannot decide who wins, the winner should be decided by the number of boundaries. The team hitting maximum boundaries in the match should win.
Do you think, this is fair? Well, the debate in on! The cricket experts across the world are not happy with this rule. Some are saying that the trophy should have been shared in such a case.
Many former cricketers, viz. Gautam Gambhir, Bret Lee, Stephen Fleming, Dean Jones, Mohammad Kaif etc. took to Twitter and shared their disappointment on such a rule. Some called it ‘cruel’, while some said ‘horrible’ and some ‘ridiculous’.
