On the occasion of Holika Dahan on Monday, people of Worli area in Mumbai were seen burning an effigy of 'coronasur', a demon signifying the novel coronavirus that has killed thousands of people around the globe.
They also named the demon as ‘Coronasur’ and showed it with a giant cutout of an injection. A few effigies were also erected that showed a woman warrior holding heads of the Nirbhaya convicts giving a social message on the crimes against women.
The main celebrations of “Rangwali Holi” is preceded by “Holika Dahan”, where people worship Holika, a demoness, and perform rituals around a bonfire. The government also urged people not to get involved in mass gathering and pool parties to prevent the infection from spreading.
