WHO recommendation is that if you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not recommend that people who are well wearing a face mask (including respirators) to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
How long can the SARS-CoV-2 remain on surfaces:
Experimentally, the virus was found to be viable in aerosols for 3 hours, 48 hours on stainless steel surfaces, 72 hours on plastic, four hours on copper and 24 hours on cardboard.
The proximal origin of SARS-CoV-2: SARS-CoV-2 is the 7th coronavirus known to infect humans. Since the first reports of novel pneumonia (COVID-19) in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, there has been considerable discussion on the origin of the causative virus, SARS-CoV-2. In this analysis, the authors clearly show that SARS-CoV-2 is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus.
