COVID-19 Vaccine At Early Stages In India But Not Within A Year
After US President Donald Trump said there are hopes of developing the COVID–19 vaccine by the end of the year, it’s time for India now as Indian researchers and firms claim that the vaccine is at its early stages but could not come within a year.
The Indian government and private firms have come together to develop a vaccine to prevent the spread of COVID-19 which has claimed over 3,700 lives with more than 1,25,000 cases in the country.
Officials from the prime minister office, by referring to a statement say that PMO is the most pressing need and Indian academia, start-ups and industry have come together in cutting-edge vaccine design and development.
In India, the Department of Biotechnology has been made to identify and develop new pathways for vaccine development.
Popular India firms namely ZydusCadila is working on two vaccines while Serum Institute, Biological E, Bharat Biotech, Indian Immunologicals, and Mynvax are developing one vaccine each.
“Research on a COVID vaccine in India is at a very early stage of development and any candidates are likely to reach animal trials only by the end of the year,” famous virologist Shahid Jameel told PTI.
