The Rajasthan government has taken a late-night decision on 21 March 2020 and announced a complete lockdown of the state until 31st March to avoid the spreading of coronavirus. All government and private offices, malls, shops, factories and public transport across the State will remain closed. The border states of Rajasthan will also be sealed. However, essential services are exempted.
The decision was taken by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot after a high-level meeting. He explained that it is essential to stay at home safely to fight the pandemic. During the lockdown, over 1 crore families will get wheat for two months for free. Food packets will also be distributed for free to the street vendors, daily wage earners, and poor people in the urban areas.
“No worker will be laid off from any factory during the lockdown. Laborers will be entitled to leaves with wages,” the CM said. To ensure that pensioners do not face any financial crisis, the State government will disburse all social security pensions by the April first week. 25 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus in Rajasthan and 40 others are awaiting the results.
In Maharashtra, the government decided to lockdown Mumbai, Nagpur, and other places around the cities to stop the spread of COVID-19. Mumbai local trains will also be shut down from 22 March until the next order. However, the people working for essential services will be allowed to travel on trains.
