California School Shooting: Two Killed, Shooter in Critical Condition
A gun shooter opened a fire in a Santa Clarita school, about 40 miles north of Los Angeles at 7 AM this morning. Two were killed (a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy) and several others injured in the shoot. The 16-year-old shooter Nathaniel Tennosuke Berhow injured himself and was taken into custody. The schools in the area were put on lockdown and parents were warned to lock their doors.
“This is still a very active situation. Reports of approximately 5 victims being treated. Parents, deputies are on scene everywhere protecting your children,” the sheriff’s department tweeted. The suspect turned out gun to on himself and was among the injured students, initially he is not identified as the shooter though. Now, it has been confirmed that he is the suspect and is being treated in a local hospital currently. The weapon recovered was an emptied .45 calibre semi-automatic pistol.
The students of the school are under the police control and police are interviewing all Saugus High School students before releasing them to their parents. There are rumors that suspect had posted threats on social media and police are investigating it now. One student said that she was doing her homework when students started running. "I was really, really scared. I was shaking," she said. The shooter’s motive is unknown but the shoot took place on his birthday.
