Chandrababu Naidu Stresses Fair Implementation of Welfare Schemes and Quota for BCs
Affirming the TDP-led NDA government's commitment to extending social security pensions and welfare schemes to all eligible individuals, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need to weed out ineligible beneficiaries and ensure fairness in implementation.
During a review meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday to discuss election promises made to Backward Classes (BCs), Naidu examined the disbursement of social security pensions. Concerns about ineligible individuals receiving pensions under the differently-abled category were addressed, with the Chief Minister directing officials to establish proper eligibility guidelines and conduct thorough inspections to remove unqualified beneficiaries.
“Our policy is to ensure that all eligible citizens receive State aid,” Naidu said, reassuring that verification processes are not intended to remove legitimate beneficiaries. He urged officials to complete the verification of disabled pensions within three months and warned of strict action against doctors, officials, and staff responsible for issuing fake certificates.
Highlighting his commitment to BC welfare, Naidu reaffirmed the implementation of a 34% reservation for BCs in nominated posts, a promise made during the recent general elections. He directed officials to ensure that the proposed law is robust and free from legal or technical complications.
Naidu criticized the previous government for reducing BC quotas in local bodies from 34% to 24%, resulting in the loss of 16,500 posts. He assured that necessary steps would be taken to restore and secure the promised quota, directing a detailed study of relevant court judgments
