As it is right to say the year 2020 a terrible one after it experienced an earthquake, Coronavirus pandemic, locusts swamp, forest fires, cyclones and some of the shocking deaths, a yet another new conspiracy theory has suggested that the end of the world is sometime in the coming week, probably on June 21, and claimed the Mayan calendar was wrongly predicted as the real doomsday is on coming Sunday.
The theory is put forward by conspiracy theorists and there is no solid proof of its genuineness and worth. The Mayan calendar predicted that the world will come to an end on 12 December 2012, however, after recalculations, it would already have been done with the world next Sunday, on June 21, 2020.
Scientist Paolo Tagaloguin reportedly said: “Following the Julian Calendar, we are technically in 2012. The number of days lost in a year due to the shift into Gregorian Calendar is 11 days. For 268 years using the Gregorian Calendar (1752-2020) times 11 days = 2,948 days. 2,948 days / 365 days (per year) = 8 years”.
NASA debunks the prediction by stating, “For any claims of disaster or dramatic changes in 2012, where is the science? Where is the evidence? There is none, and for all the fictional assertions, whether they are made in books, movies, documentaries or over the Internet, we cannot change that simple fact. There is no credible evidence for any of the assertions made in support of unusual events taking place in December 2012.”
NASA says that there is no objection in referring this year as a terrible one but our next Sunday will be as playful as the earlier ones.
