Coronavirus Cases In India Inches 1.12 Lakh, Deaths At 3,435

The coronavirus cases in India continue to rise rapidly as on Thursday as many as 5,609 cases were detected across the country taking the tally to 112,359.

Death toll rises to 3,435 as 132 total deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra alone reported 67 deaths on Wednesday, the highest of all the states. On Thursday, a majority of 2,000 cases were reported from Maharashtra itself.

The total number of COVID-19 patients in the state stood at 39,297. As many as 1,390 coronavirus patients succumbed to death in the state.

There are 63,624 active cases of coronavirus in the country at present while more than 42,000 of patients recovered from the virus till now which is around 40% of the recovery rate.

India is among 11 countries that has over 1,00,000 cases but has fewer deaths — 3,316 — and only behind Russia’s 2,972. Only 2.94% of Indians confirmed positive are on oxygen support, 3% in Intensive Care Units and 0.45% on ventilator support, the Union health ministry said on Wednesday.
