Family Dispute in the Manchu Household: An In-Depth Analysis
The ongoing feud in the Manchu family, a prominent figure in the Telugu film industry, has taken a public turn, with veteran actor Mohan Babu and his younger son, Manchu Manoj, filing complaints against each other.
This family conflict highlights allegations of property disputes, personal safety concerns, and financial irregularities. Mohan Babu, a legendary actor with a five-decade career, accused his son Manoj and daughter-in-law Bhuma Monika of attempting to unlawfully seize his property. In a complaint to the Rachakonda Police, he alleged that Manoj and Monika employed anti-social elements to intimidate him and his staff. According to him, these individuals forcefully occupied his residence in Jalpally, Ranga Reddy District, and issued threats to make him vacate permanently. He requested immediate intervention to ensure his safety.
Manchu Manoj, however, dismissed these allegations as baseless. He claimed he had been living at the family’s farmhouse for over a year, fulfilling his father’s request to support his mother after his elder brother, Manchu Vishnu, relocated to Dubai. Manoj alleged that the accusations were an attempt to suppress his voice after he exposed irregularities in Mohan Babu University (MBU). He also accused his brother Vishnu of financial misconduct, asserting that he had evidence to prove it.
Mohan Babu alleged Manoj had abandoned the family home earlier but returned to create chaos. Manoj refuted this, attributing his presence to personal reasons, including his wife’s pregnancy. He denied any intentions of seeking inheritance, challenging anyone to provide evidence of such motives. Additionally, Manoj lamented the shelving of his film Aham Brahmasmi, claiming bias within the family, while Vishnu allegedly received continued support.
The Manchu family has faced public disputes before, including a reported spat between Manoj and Vishnu last year, dismissed as a publicity stunt for an unreleased talk show.
Mohan Babu, born Manchu Bhakthavatsalam Naidu, is a revered name in the Telugu film industry, celebrated for his versatility and iconic dialogue delivery. Having acted in over 500 films, his accolades include the Padma Shri, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and an honorary doctorate.
Manchu Manoj, recognized for films like Vedam and Current Teega, began his career as a child artist in Major Chandrakanth. Known for his charitable endeavors, he has a reputation for supporting underprivileged children.
The family drama underscores internal tensions that threaten the Manchu legacy, revered in Telugu cinema.
