Final Goodbye To CCD Founder VG Siddhartha
As Café Coffee Day founder, VG Siddhartha, left for his final journey on Wednesday, thousands of people came to bid him goodbye. People lined-up the route of the ambulance taking his dead body from Mangaluru to his hometown Chikkamagaluru district. His sons, Amartya and Eshan, lit the funeral pyre and performed last rites as per Vokkaliga traditions.
Everybody who came to pay their last respects to Siddhartha has some memorable story to tell about him. Villagers, public figures, corporates and café coffee day staff from various regions had gathered at his ancestral residence. They held flowers and banners to pay him tribute. All their lives were touched by the coffee king in some way or the other.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, along with other politicians, offered condolences to the devasted family and paid their respects to the coffee czar. Siddhartha is also the son-in-law of former Chief Minister SM Krishna. He leaves behind his wife Malavika and two sons.
The sixty-year-old was missing since Monday night. Siddhartha left from Bengaluru in his SUV and on the way asked his driver to take him to Ullal bridge and reportedly jumped off it. His driver was the last person to have seen him. Siddhartha was under financial pressure.
