A doctor in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, who had tested positive for Coronavirus earlier this week, died due to the illness on Thursday morning.
This is the first case in India where a doctor has died of the virus. His colleague revealed that he was not treating any COVID19 patient.
Four days ago when he showed symptoms of the virus, he was taken to Gokuldas Hospital. However, he was later shifted to CHL Apollo Hospital in Indore. Then, he was moved to the Aurobindo Hospital where he breathed his last at 4 am on Thursday morning.
Dr. Shatrughan Panjwani was 62 at the time he died and was a general physician in Indore. He is believed to have contracted the virus during his interaction with slums. Madhya Pradesh coronavirus cases in the state have reached 229 including 22 deaths. However, no infected patient in the state has so far recovered from the deadly virus.
The doctor is survived by his wife and three sons, all of them live in Australia.
