First Person Injected With Trial Coronavirus Vaccine In The US

The first experimental trial of a vaccine for deadly coronavirus in humans began on Monday with a woman being injected with the same in the US.

A healthy volunteer in Seattle in the U.S. received a dose of an experimental coronavirus vaccine as part of a new clinical trial, as per the announcement made by the government officials.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a statement, “This Phase 1 study, launched in record speed, is an important first step toward achieving that goal.”

US President Donald Trump, facing media said that it was one of the fastest vaccine development in medical history. He further exclaimed that antiviral therapies and more modern techniques are being constantly explored to find more cure for the virus.

The vaccine is called mRNA-1273 and was developed by the NIAID scientists and their collaborators at the biotechnology company Moderna, Inc., based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The vaccine, is however not yet known to work properly and estimation has been made that it would take months to know about its efficiency. But the vaccine is safe to use and doesn’t cause COVID-19 and has been made using a tried and tested process.
