Gandhi Hospital Staff Reluctant To Work In The Isolation Ward
The total number of known COVID-19 cases have crossed the 730-mark on Friday with the death toll because of the virus at 17. At 88, India saw the highest rise in cases in a single day on Thursday.
As per the Union health ministry data, 80 fresh cases were reported on Thursday, taking the tally to 694. Panic among the hospital staff has been created.
Recently, the staff at Gandhi Hospital wrote a letter stating that they could not work at the isolation ward where the Coronavirus patients are being treated. "We are providing 24-hour services to the COVID-19 patients but no one cares about them," said the staff adding they are even afraid to meet their family members.
The nurses demanded pass for their husbands, who, when heading to the hospital to pick them up, were being stopped by the police. They also alleged that they are not able to work in the ward regularly and demanded a change in their duties. Also, the staff wanted the government to respond to their issues and renovate the RMO1 quarters where the nurses were asked to stay.
