Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was one of the highly respected scholars and reformer of Bengal from the 19th century. The statue was broken in pieces when the fight took place between current PMs BJP party and Bengals ruling Trinamool Congress.
The fight took place when Amit Shah was having a road show in West Bengal for their candidate, the fight Brock and in the chaos, no one knew what happened, and then the blame game started. Both the parties started blaming each other, accusing of breaking down the statue of most respected reformer in Bengal.
The bad behavior of ruling Trinamool Congress was seen on the day of Amit Shah’s roadshow, the vision of Vidyasagar is respected by all and will build a grand statue on the same place it was, stated PM Modi while addressing a campaign rally in Mau, Uttar Pradesh.
Not an ordinary one, a statue made up of Panch Dhatu (five Metals) will be erected at the same place promised PM Modi.
Mamata however fired back that they do not need BJPs money to erect the statue.
