Harmony -Huawei’s Alternative for Android

After the growing tension between the US and Chinese giant Huawei, the later is working on an Android alternative. They named it Harmony. As per the reports, the operating system might be unveiled next month at the Huawei Developer Conference.

On 12^th July, Huawei filed a patent with EUIPO, The European Union Intellectual Property Office. The trademark application, which was filed in Germany, is currently under examination as stated by EUIPO.

Huawei has categorized this operating system under “mobile operating systems; computer operating systems; downloadable operating system programs” and claims its OS is faster than Android and Apple’s macOS.

The term ‘Hongmeng OS’ came into light earlier this year and it was also an Android alternative.

Huawei will launch Harmony in China by the end of this year. They are planning to launch it in other countries in the first quarter of 2020.

The operating system will be functional in tablets and computers also, apart from mobile phones.
