The State Election Commission on Friday released the complete schedule of local body elections to be held in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The first phase of the election will commence on 21st March, while the second phase will be held on March 24th. The elections for the municipal is scheduled on March 27th. The counting of votes and declaration of results will be on March 29th.

This is in response to the review meeting held in Amaravati on Tuesday in which Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed the officials to contest the elections within this month, adhering to poll code norms.

Earlier, Jagan in a video-conferencing said that they were prepared to conduct the elections to gram panchayats, Mandal and Zilla Parishad as well as municipalities and municipal corporations.

YRSCP had passed an ordinance according to which any contestant convicted of irregularities in local elections will be sentenced to imprisonment to a maximum of three years and a fine of Rs 10,000.
