Hyderabad Yet To Recover From Floods Trauma
The city of Hyderabad received the highest rainfall this year that is also the highest in the decade since 2011. There is a 46 percent excess rainfall this year from June 1 to September 30, 2020.
The city’s administrators said that the rainfall between October 14 and October 21 was so intense, the city’s drainage system did not have the capacity to handle it.
There are still many places in Hyderabad that have not yet recovered from the damage and people are looking for remote places to settle.
Several middle-class and lower-middle-class families are now making video appeals on social media platforms asking netizens to help them.
Several families where marriages were fixed before the flash floods are now in distress and are overcome with anxiety and uncertainty as to how to go ahead with the marriages, a costly affair these days.
Meanwhile, several government organizations and NGOs came together to help the ones in need. Interestingly, The members of the Hyderabad Horse Riding School (HHRS) are visiting flood-hit areas under the Tolichowki division and providing essential commodities as well as carrying out rescue operations in areas like Nadeem Colony, Nirja Colony, Balreddy Nagar Colony and Virasatnagar areas.
