ISRO Starts 2019 with Giant Success

Indian Space Research Organisation starts this new year with a double success. ISRO PSLV C-44 was launched successfully into the dark sky last night from Satish Dhawan Space Centre-SHAR from Sriharikota of Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh.

The launch of vehicle happened around 11.37PM last night and the satellite took off with flaming red vibrant flames reaching into the mystery space. The second stage engines were turned down after 12.46 minutes of vehicles travel where it reached a distance of 274 KM approximately.

The launch vehicle carried two satellites Microsat-R weighing 700kilograms which are designed for the applications of Military was launched in the orbit of 274 KM. This is the first time ISRO launched its satellite in lower orbit. The pole to pole orbit cycle is designed for this satellite. Another satellite Kalamsat-2 weighing 1200grams respectively which was prepared by the Spacekids School from Tamil Nadu with a vision to use the fourth stage of the rocket for research purpose over a period of 6 to 10 months by launching Kalamsat-2 in an orbit of 450 KM after traveling for a period of 1.42 hours.

The launch vehicle was modified with an additional strap of 2 boosters for providing additional thrust to lift the vehicle and also to carry out research work in space for a period of time.

ISRO chairman Dr. K Shivan from the Mission Control stated, the first mission of 2019 is a grand success and another innovation is using the fourth stage of the rocket as an experimental platform to do research corroborations. He also added that ISRO is planning to launch 32 satellites this year and also working on the launching of a Small Satellite Launch Vehicle(SSLV) which is smaller than now PSLV, this year.
