IT Firms To Shed A Vast Number Of Their Employees This Year
If you are an employee in any of the Information technology services companies in India then reading this article is a must for you and you shouldn’t take your eyes off here. The bad news is coming into the view that IT services companies may shed 30,000 to 40,000 middle-level employees this year as growth slows down, IT industry veteran T V Mohandas Pai said on Monday.
“These job losses are sure to happen once in a five-year, is a normal phenomenon and functioning with the manufacturing of the industry.”, The former Chief Financial Officer of IT major Infosys Ltd told to the media.
Mohandas Pai further compares this incident due to slow growth in India with the other foreign countries and said,” As in all sectors in the West, in India too when a sector matures so many people will be there in the middle level who will not be adding value to the salary they get,”.
He also explained that when there is a fast growth for the company or it rises high then its quite normal and okay to involve the employees in promotions and perks but when it slows down then giving high salaries doesn’t sounds good and then prompting companies to periodically reset their pyramids, and shedding people is a normal effect.
"It's going to happen again and again and again every five years," said Pai, Chairman of Aarin Capital and Manipal Global Education Services.
He also added that nobody will be paid without providing any quality service and value to the company. When asked about the number of employees estimated to lose their jobs, he prompted” All across industry, maybe 30,000 to 40,000 in a year...,”.
At last, he gave a sigh of relief by saying that 80 percent of all those who would lose their jobs would have employment opportunities in industries in general if they are specialists.
