India Clinches Fourth Gold at ISSF Junior World Cup in Cairo
India continued its impressive performance at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Cairo by securing its fourth gold medal, thanks to a record-breaking effort by Shambhavi Kshirsagar and Divyanshu Dewangan in the 10m air rifle mixed team event.
The Indian duo delivered a stellar performance, setting a junior world record score of 499.9 in the final. Earlier, they had topped the qualification round with a combined score of 632.0, showcasing consistency and precision. Chinese Taipei secured the silver medal, while France finished with bronze.
In another event, Sameer performed well in the 25m rapid-fire pistol category, qualifying for the finals with a score of 573, placing second in the qualification round. However, he finished seventh in the final. France’s Arnaud Gamaleri claimed gold in the event with an impressive performance that equalled the junior world record.
With this latest achievement, India now leads the medal tally at the Cairo Junior World Cup, having secured a total of 12 medals — including four gold, five silver, and three bronze. The competition still has two days remaining, with several more medals up for grabs.
India’s strong showing highlights the growing depth and talent in its shooting contingent at the junior level. Performances like these not only bring international recognition but also signal a promising future for Indian shooting sports.
