India Suspends All Tourist Visas Till April 15
In an exhaustive attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus as cases across India continue to rise, the Ministry of Home Affairs, in its latest travel advisory has suspended all tourist and medical visas till April 15.
The suspension will come into effect from 1200 GMT on March 13 at the port of departure. All visas stand suspended except for diplomatic, official, and employment/project visas.
All incoming travelers including Indian nationals arriving from countries like China, Italy, Iran, Republic of Korea, France, Spain, and Germany after February 15, 2020, might face problems and will be quarantined for a minimum of 14 days, according to the advisory.
Advisory also states that anyone from outside India who intends to travel to India for compelling reasons may contact the nearest Indian Mission. However, the government said that all visas of foreigners who are already in the country will remain valid.
The decision was taken by the government following the notification released by WHO which declare Coronavirus outbreak as a pandemic.
Coronavirus has spread in over 100 countries around the world. The deadly virus has impacted more than 1,24,000, with over 4,500 deaths. But scientists from different countries are trying to find out the way to combat the deadly virus.
