Indian-American Drowned In Lake Washington, Fighting For Life
Manikkalal Subramaniam, who hails from Kerala India, is currently fighting for his life at Overlake Hospital, Bellevue, Washington. He had gone to enjoy the US Navy Blue Angle Show in Lake Washington with his family, over the weekend. He was swimming in the shallow waters of the lake with his seven-year-old son when he was drowned in the lake.
The bystanders told that they heard the boy shouting for his father who was not seen anywhere. He was immediately pulled out of the lake but had no heartbeat, as he had spent close to ten minutes in the water unconscious. His heart was revived through cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
As reported by friends, on hearing the news about her husband, the eight-month pregnant wife, Asha, fainted and was taken in the emergency ward in the hospital. The family does not have any immediate relatives in the United States.
Manikkalal works as a software architect in Infosys. He is native of Kayamkulam, a town in the Alappuzha district of Kerala. His mother lives alone in the town. His condition is said to be critical at present and the doctors don’t have much hope about his survival.
Every year many visitors visit the lake for the show, US Navy Blue Angle Show, which features a fleet of US Navy planes speeding and maneuvering through the sky.
