Industries Minister KTR urges firms to hire locally.
K.T. Rama Rao, Minister of Industries and Information Technology, has urged businesses to give hiring preferences to locals and has offered the help of the State government in establishing youth skilling centers as an enabling measure.
It's crucial to maintain harmony with the natural environment. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for M&M entity Mahindra Last Mile Mobility's electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Zaheerabad, he emphasized the importance of hiring locally. He noted that a skilling center could be set up if necessary. The Minister also stressed the importance of job seekers acquiring the necessary skills and the necessity of upskilling.
Mr.Rao congratulated Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on its decision to set up the facility, which is part of the 1,000-crore investment in Telangana over eight years, it had announced in February. It said that promoting and adopting electric vehicles remains a focus area for the Telangana government.
The proposed electric vehicle facility is part of M&M's plans to expand its existing plant in Zaheerabad. Zaheerabad is home to one of M&M's largest tractor production facilities, and the company recently announced it would begin producing all OJA tractors there.
In a press release, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility announced that it plans to use the new facility to construct a cutting-edge battery assembly line, making power packs and electronic and drivetrain components for electric three- and four-wheelers. The facility will also provide local employment for between 800 and 1,000 people.
